Worship at St. John the Evangelist is rooted in the Anglican Prayer Book tradition using the Book of Common Prayer, 1979 (the current authorized Prayer Book of The Episcopal Church) and those supplemental worship resources authorized by the General Convention.  Our liturgy is both ancient and modern, and is likely familiar to anyone who has worshiped in a liturgical tradition or who has seen pop culture depictions of church in the media.  In worship we seek reconciliation with God and with each other through the sacraments.  It is our hope and desire that you will both discover and experience a connection with the divine in our worship.

We believe that baptism is the sacrament of full initiation in to the communion of saints, and the rite of full membership in the body of Christ.  By virtue of our baptism we are all called to be ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the continuing presence of Christ in our world.  This is why our mission is to form disciples who are the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus.

The central act of worship in the Episcopal Church is the Holy Eucharist (often called the Mass or Communion).  At the Eucharist, all who deeply desire a closer relationship with Jesus are invited to receive Holy Communion, for the table is where we most fully enter into communion with him.  We believe that this is God's table and since we are ALL made in the image and likeness of God, ALL are welcome (no exceptions).
